Beginning the week of Monday, February 15, 2021, Mason City Community School District will offer two options for learning:  (1) Full-time in-person learning; and (2) Continuous/online learning.  This move to these two learning options meets the requirements of the approved Iowa Senate File 160 signed by Governor Reynolds today, Friday, January 29, 2021.

Full-time in-person learning will follow the 2020-2021 Board approved calendar.  Wednesday will continue to be an early dismissal day.  The schedule for Wednesday early dismissal will follow the half-day dismissal schedule for the remainder of the 2020-2021 school calendar year.  Following the half-day dismissal schedule meets the requirements set forth in Senate File 160 and provides staff dedicated time for planning/work with continuous/online learning and professional development.  The early dismissal schedule, by building, for Wednesday is listed below.

Buildings will send a communication to all families by Friday, February 5 regarding specifics related to your student’s schedule and procedures for requesting continuous/online learning.  Only parents/guardians opting to select the option of continuous/online learning will need to contact their student’s building to schedule this learning option.

Reminder:  As per the Mason City Community School District Board approved 2020-2021 school calendar, Monday, February 15, 2021, is a “No school day for students & staff”.  Wednesday, February 17 will be the start of the half-day dismissal for students for staff Professional Development.
