4-Year-Old Preschool Program Expanding at Mason City Community School District
The Mason City Community School District is expanding its 4-Year-Old Preschool Program for the 2015-2016 school year and is accepting applications at this time. This quality preschool program is offered, at no cost to families, for children who will be four years-of-age prior to September 15, 2015. Proof of child’s age is required-birth certificate preferred.

Early Literacy Focus for Iowa - Letter from Department of Education Director Brad Buck
Reading is essential to student success in school and in life. The Iowa Department of Education Director Brad Buck has requested district's assistance in sharing information with families about early literacy efforts in Iowa. New Website Feature - THE VIRTUAL BACKPACK
The Mason City Community School District is offering a new feature on their website – “The Virtual Backpack.” The school district is a part of the larger community in which it carries out its education mission. The school district has been a conduit for providing information by permitting distribution of non-school materials to inform students and their families of youth-related programs or activities, and of events that intend to improve the health, education or welfare of students according to Board policy.
Mason City Community School district has implemented a “green” approach for distributing information from school sponsored activities and flyers from non-school community organizations to which approval is granted.
Administrative/Supervisory District Organizational Charts
A new addition to the DOCUMENTS under District Information is the folder Administrative/Supervisory District Organizational Charts. These documents are a "road map" of the Mason City Community School District organizational structure and the district administrative and supervisory positions and a brief overview of the responsibilities and duties related to the various positions. DOCUMENTS can be found in the menu at the top of the district web page and "District Information" is the first link on the DOCUMENTS page. The district Math Committee has worked on these documents to provide extra practice on needed skills to enhance your child's success in the coming school year. There are individual math practice information and activities for students entering grades 1-7. Keep your student's math skills sharp by having them take advantage of these math practice opportunities.
