In August 2015, parents of students attending Harding Elementary and Roosevelt Elementary were notified of the schools' designation as a "School in Need of Assistance," or SINA, under federal guidelines because a portion of our students did not reach proficiency goals on the Iowa Assessments for at least two consecutive years. As a result, our district is required by law to offer the opportunity for supplemental educational services, such as tutoring, to eligible students attending those schools. The district is not required to provide transportation to supplemental educational service locations. Transportation to these sites will be the responsibility of the parent.
The Iowa Department of Education’s list of approved supplemental educational service providers has been mailed to parents of eligible students attending Harding Elementary and Roosevelt Elementary. The list of approved supplemental educational service providers is also available online (click here). Two enrollment periods for supplemental services are offered during the 2014-2015 school year: September 18 – October 1 and October 5- October 15. If you have questions about whether your student is eligible, or about which service might best meet the needs of your child, contact Harding Elementary (641.421.4406) or Roosevelt Elementary (641.421.4415).
